Increasing water demands throughout Texas are making it much more challenging to satisfy all the water needs of agriculture, urban areas, and the environment. Sufficient water resources are needed to provide drinking water for humans, address farming needs and maintain environmental stream flows. Now more than ever, creative approaches are needed to develop policies that are "win-win" situations for all water users.

The 2003 Texas Water Summit will focus on water issues for agricultural and natural resources. Breakout sessions and round table discussions will foster the debate on such issues as the need to provide water resources for streamflows; the transfer of ground and surface water from one region of Texas to another; and how to identify options to meet future water needs. Participants will have the opportunity to provide inputs and help craft recommendations in the following core areas, meeting future water demands, environmental flows, and water transfers.
