Texas Agricultural Summit October 1993 - College Station, TX

Just as a diplomatic summit brings leaders of nations together, the Texas Agricultural Summit brought together industry leaders from agriculture, agribusiness, and natural resources with representatives from consumer and environmental groups, government, and universities. The goal was to develop an agenda for Texas agriculture for the 21st century. Accomplishing this objective required a better understanding of the trends and issues impacting Texas agriculture, and the strengthening of old and forging of new coalitions to address these issues. The participants from throughout the state identify 15 high-priority issues that will challenge Texas agriculture in the future. These issues will become the agenda for action that will prepare our agricultural and related industries for the next century. Cooperation among diverse groups is needed to protect the state's environment while maintaining agriculture's productivity and profitability.
